SevenRooms: Growing Share Of Voice

SevenRooms, a data-driven hospitality guest experience platform acquired by DoorDash in 2025, selected Diffusion to help elevate its technology platform. Over the course of five years working together, SevenRooms and Diffusion secured top-tier coverage year over year, including navigating the global impact of the pandemic on the hospitality industry.

 

Insight & Idea

After establishing SevenRooms as the premier experience management platform for restaurants and other hospitality vendors, the company closed its Series B funding round at $50M in June 2020. Even though this was mid global pandemic and as such not an ideal time in the hospitality industry, Diffusion was tasked with creating an overarching growth story for both mainstream business and key technology publications.

Diffusion developed a messaging strategy that bolstered the investment as validation of SevenRooms and its data-driven approach to guest management to help restaurant and hospitality operators succeed, especially with the new challenges brought on by the pandemic.

Following the successful funding campaign, Diffusion continued to leverage the SevenRooms co-founders to elevate thought leadership and grow share of voice among major competitors – including OpenTable and Resy – cementing the company as an authority on tech in the hospitality industry. Diffusion implemented a comprehensive PR program including custom research campaigns to gain insights on Americans’ changing attitudes on restaurant trends and preferred dining experiences, especially as a result of the pandemic. Diffusion also worked with SevenRooms to develop reports that resulted in data and key headlines that caught the attention of target media.

 

Impact & Action

The funding announcement generated more than 22+ pieces of coverage, highlighting SevenRooms’ leadership position in the market across a mix of broadcast, digital and newsletters, such as TechCrunch, Cheddar, Yahoo Finance’s On the Move, Fortune, Crunchbase, Axios and more. Coverage generated over 127M+ impressions, with 86% of the coverage comprising full features.

Ongoing coverage following the funding announcement included TechCrunch, NBC, Yahoo Finance, Food & Wine, Wall Street Journal, USA Today, Business Insider, Fortune, both showcasing SevenRooms’ co-founders unique POVs on the hospitality business as well as leveraging the custom research campaigns. Many of the reports live on SevenRooms’ website and are regularly used as a lead generation tool by the company’s sales team.

Overall, Diffusion’s PR campaign for SevenRooms secured more than 2.3 billion impressions, increasing the brand’s share of voice to more than triple the beginning of the PR program. Over the course of the campaign, coverage was over 70% more than the original KPIs.
