Our work

Scape:
Fresher & Healthy

Scape is a pioneer, resetting expectations and standards for university accommodation and it selected Diffusion to build credibility, awareness and sales for its new shared student living model. One of the key benefits of Scape’s residences, is the care and attention provided to the welfare of all guests. The pandemic provided a particular challenge for Freshers starting university in autumn 2020 and Scape tasked Diffusion with developing a campaign which would not only help Scape’s new residents but students across the UK.

Insight & Idea

Our Fresher & Healthy campaign was developed as a national education campaign to help support new students to learn and socialise safely and protect their physical and mental health as they arrived at university during the Covid-19 pandemic.  Diffusion secured a partnership with GP provider, Gogodoc, to launch an industry-first with free health checks for Scape residents, providing broad wellbeing advice as well as the flu vaccination. Students were also gifted with carefully curated Fresher and Healthy kit, filled with useful items to support wellbeing.

To position Scape as a campaigning voice for all students, we worked with Dr Alex George as the face of the campaign using his credibility as an A&E doctor and his profile with our target audience from his time on Love Island.

Impact & Action

Fresher & Healthy was launched through a virtual event broadcast from Scape, with key national and student media and social influencers, invited to an interactive consultation with Dr Alex and Gogodoc. Diffusion developed a social content series to appeal to Dr Alex’s 2 million followers on social, with our Instagram launch post reaching over 750,000 people.

Diffusion secured Dr Alex as a guest with Kay Burley on Sky News and BBC Radio at the start of the Freshers’ Week period.  The campaign was also covered by national media titles including Mail Online, The Sun and Heat Magazine.

“Empowering students and ensuring their wellbeing has always been at the heart of everything that Scape does. We feel strongly about our responsibility to help and support student’s physical and mental wellbeing, particularly at a time when young people may feel worried about starting or heading back to university.”
