Smart Ops Water Launch

Diffusion was approached by entrepreneurs and innovators, Dr Liam Ryan and Priyesh Patel to take their water treatment start-up, Smart Ops, out of beta and introduce it to NGOs, partners, investors and stakeholders internationally. The company required a global agency to develop messaging around its proposition and service, to refresh its visual brand identity, and build an initial website destination.

Media Postioning

Diffusion’s media positioning for Smart Ops began by looking at the broader societal impacts that its ground-breaking water treatment and rejuvenation can bring to communities. A foundational ‘Why?’ statement focused on the impact and importance of access to clean water to “drive quality of life and economic progress.”

Despite the deep bioscience and engineering breakthroughs underpinning the company’s solution, it would be critical to use language that could be understood by the multiple non-technical stakeholders that would be involved in the sales cycle.

Brand Development

Ahead of the soft launch, Diffusion’s design team developed a new modern logo, optimised for mobile and social channels. A richer colour palette was created to contrast with the typical and clinical blue, green and white associated with cleantech startups. Given Smart Ops positioning as a long-term partner in communities, using images of people and communities where possible was central to the new look of the website we developed.

Media Launch

Diffusion’s launch leveraged the agency’s relationships with top-tier media and analysts across a series of key verticals including engineering, water trades, biotechnology and sustainability, as well as outreach to national business titles. Tailored media announcements were developed to introduce Smart Ops, focused on the company being the first to be awarded official accreditation for its solution through the Government of India’s Ministry for Water, and through 10 projects already live across the country.

Coverage highlights included Engineering and Technology, The HinduEnvirotech and Indian Infrastructure Magazine. An ongoing programme of thought leadership and new partnership announcements is planned for later in 2024 and into 2025, to build on the momentum from the initial launch.
